*******
Aikido is a martial art that translates as "the way of harmony with ki." The form of aikido that I practice is Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido or Aikido with Mind Body Unified(aka Ki-Aikido) as taught by Koichi Tohei Sensei, founder of the Ki Society International. The ultimate purpose of studying Ki-Aikido is to gain a higher understanding of Mind Body Coordination. Mind Body Coordination (aka Ki Development or Japanese yoga)is a way of life that is teachable, testable, and reproducible. When you practice Ki Development, you are always centered, grounded, and clear and focused in your intention. Your actions require less effort and you are more stable - physically and mentally. Practitioners of Ki-Aikido remain calm and centered during an attack and move smoothly to avoid injury, both to themselves and to their attackers. Irwin HoenigLMT, CST Living Calmness
